Party: Ivory and Gold Birthday Celebration

When we celebrated Audrey's birthday and baptism I was reminded how much flowers make the event. It really doesn't matter what else you have for decoration, if fresh flowers are involved it is bound to be beautiful.

I was also reminded how much I love white, single variety arrangements. They were my choice for my wedding and as I set out vases of white iris, spider mums and snow ball viburnum, I felt like our backyard was ready to host a reception.

We're years away from that, thankfully, though it does seems our girls are growing up more quickly than it could be possible. Especially as Audrey has just hit another milestone. Another passage.

We celebrated with a gathering of friends and family and it was such a beautiful evening! It was incredible to be surrounded by them in support of Audrey's baptism and to have many of them contribute food for the celebration.

We served roasted salmon with mustard and dill, crusty rolls and a great assortment of salads thanks to our guests. A perfect summer meal.

This was an ivory and gold celebration, to match the gold and ivory dress I designed for Audrey to mark the occasion.

So I tied some gold dotted tulle ribbon (I purchased at Hobby Lobby) around the vases and gathered gold tulle table runners for the serving and dining tables. I love how these simple efforts created a big impact--a glimmering thread of gold to tie everything together. (You can find the sewing tutorial I created for the tulle table runners on Bernina's We All Sew blog.)

We served Audrey's favorite dessert: angel food cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. As well as lemon bars from our good friend, Ed, and my sister's incredible almond sugar cookies.

What a great tradition of church, community and family.

And what a joy.

So beautiful. It's wonderful to celebrate important occasions with people you love, and you did it with what appeared to be the "effortless chic" approach. (I'm sure it probably was due to your amazing organisational skills!) Stunning. Congratulations to Audry too. Be very blessed.
