Crochet: Best Little Girl Cloche

I couldn't resist making more of these little hats. The "Best Little Girl Cloche" is such an easy pattern. I love this upsized version of the Best Baby Cloche. In fact, it makes me want to do an adult size--I think I'd like a cloche myself...

I thought it would be fun to work up a cloche for each of my girls and nieces--a little back-to-school send off for the bunch, well, except for Scarlett who gets to stay home with mommy another year.

Audrey picked purple (of course) for her cousin, Kate and herself. This is the same Lily SugarN'Cream yarn I used, in the same shade (Hot Purple), for her shell dress. These are the 3-4 year size with a large (9-petal) flower.

My niece, Grace, is wearing the 5-6 year size with the large flower. I love the contrast flower--so many possibilities...  I would love orange and pink, turquoise and acqua, brown and coral...

Scarlett is in the 18-24 month size with the medium (7-petal) flower.  I kept it all one color for easier outfit matching this Fall.

I'd like to make a few more of these for my girls, especially since they seem to like wearing them.

You can find the pattern for the Best Little Girl Cloche here.

You can find a tutorial for the Best Baby Cloche (the smaller version of this hat), which would arm you to tackle this one too, here.

Yay! Thank you so much. I can't wait to try this for my girl. She's been patiently waiting. I wonder how many different colors she will want, lol! I think I'm going to need some more yarn!

I LOVE these! I'm pretty new to crochet and can't wait to try making one. How would I go about enlarging one for my 10 year old?

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your nice comments!

Judy: I used Lily SugarN'Cream yarn again--it's a worsted weight 100% cotton.

Julie: I haven't tried amking one for size 10 but you could look at the increases (rows and stitches) for these sizes and estimate an enlargement for size 10--it would likely work!

Audra: If you are new to crochet you should check out the tutorial for the Best Baby Cloche (see the sidebar and link at the bottom of this post), which may help. There are also lots of good online videos that explain knit and crochet stitches. You should give it a shot--so addictive!

Hi! Thanks for sharing this and making a larger pattern available. I fell in love with the baby one from luvinthemommyhood but didn't know how to crochet and my daughter is turning two this month so I was stuck! I recently taught myself how to crochet and made this as my first project. I blogged about it at http://thedirtroaddiva.blogspot.com/2010/10/needle-snob.html

Thanks so much for sharing this and making it so easy to follow!

Laura, I haven't tried increasing this pattern any larger but I would think it would work fairly easily. You could look at how I did the increases for he child's size and go up from there. let me know if you ahve success! Maybe when I have more time I'll give it a go myself... -A

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I love it! I made to little ones, to give to friends and one for my five year old. It seemed a bit big on her head, but her head may be small. It fits on me too. Thanks again, for the simple instructions and for sharing them with all of us!

Thank you so much for sharing the pattern. I found it extremely well written and easy to follow. I made the 0-3 month size today to give as a baby gift for a friend as well as add to the list of items I offer for sale. I linked back to your blog from Craftsy.com as well.

Hi, loving this hat. I've made a few but they all seem to come up small? I've triple checked the yarn & hook and don't think I'm going wrong there (using a DK yarn and 5mm hook). The gauge seems accurate, at 4hdc = 1 inch. Can I ask what diameter (at the base) your 3-4 year cloche is approximately? The hat is gorgeous and my smaller efforts will find good homes on the heads of some babies I know, but I'd love to get one the right size for my toddler!! Thanks!
